As said previously by Facebook, they are rolling out a new “Reactions” feature in some time, now it’s been public to all its 1.6 billion users globally!!
Facebook gave us five new options other than usual “Thumbs up”!
Now you may also – Love, Haha, Wow, Sad, Angry to express what feels appropriate to you!
Started on Wednesday, the new update has been rolled out across all platforms. On desktop, it works when you hover the like button to see the variety of reactions images, whereas in mobile apps, the reactions can be chosen by holding down the like button and just move your fingers to choose the one you want.
The reason behind Facebook’s new emojis:
According to Mark Zuckerberg, the new reactions gives new ways to express love, awe, humor and sadness in a better way. In situations of excitement, delight or warmth giving love or wow emojis can mean a lot to your happiness. Whereas in situation to express sadness or grief, it is not good to use that like symbol for that post, hence the new reactions gives more options in the emojis gives a quick way to emote the feelings.
So after more than a year on working seriously to build an alternative to LIKE button, Facebook has now launched “Reactions”. Initially it was the “like” button weighed more in Facebook’s algorithm, but now it’s the “sad” and “wow” button that will create signals to show users more of that type of post! Facebook also said that after getting feedback from the users, they might tweak it for better user engagement.
So far the “Love” emoji is the most popular button on Facebook!!
